Cookie Policy

This page lists what the Pharma and Allied website keeps in your browser, what each item is for, and how to refuse everything that is not needed for the site to work.
1. Cookies and browser storage
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. This website sets no cookies of its own: what it keeps, it keeps in your browser's local storage (which stays until it is removed) and session storage (which is emptied when the tab is closed). Both are covered here, and the banner calls all of it cookies because that is the word people know. Services run by others, listed in section 3, may set cookies of their own.
2. The four categories, and what each one does
The cookie banner asks you about four categories, and these are them. Only the necessary category is on when you arrive: the other three stay off until you switch them on, because saying nothing is not the same as saying yes.
2.1 Necessary — always on
- Your basket (onlinepharmacy-cart), so the items you picked are still there when you reach checkout.
- Your sign-in (onlinepharmacy-customer-auth), once you sign in, so you are not asked to on every page. It is removed when you sign out.
- Your answer to the cookie banner (cookie-consent), with the date you gave it, so you are not asked again.
- The order you have just placed (onlinepharmacy-last-order), in session storage, so its confirmation page can be shown. It holds what you ordered and the phone number you gave, and is gone when the tab is closed or you sign out.
- Your conversation with the automated assistant (onlinepharmacy-assistant-conversation), in session storage and only if you use the assistant, so a reply continues the same conversation. Gone when the tab is closed or you sign out.
- For a wholesale account, the order being typed at the trade counter (onlinepharmacy-trade-counter: followed by the account's number), so a closed tab or a dropped connection does not lose it. It holds the items and quantities, and is removed when the order is sent or emptied.
- What “Order again” at the trade counter had to leave out (onlinepharmacy-trade-counter-again), in session storage, shown once and then removed.
- The page to come back to after signing in (onlinepharmacy-after-sign-in), in session storage, only when you start a wholesale application before signing in. Removed once you are back.
- None of these is used for advertising or for statistics. The site cannot take an order without them, which is why the banner shows them locked.
2.2 Functional — off until you allow it
- Your wishlist (onlinepharmacy-wishlist), so saved products are still saved on your next visit.
- Products you viewed recently (onlinepharmacy-recently-viewed), to save you finding them again.
- Without this category both still work while the page is open, and are forgotten when you leave. Switching it off removes what was kept.
2.3 Statistics — off until you allow it
- Two random identifiers are kept: one for this browser (rx_visitor, kept until a year after your last visit) and one for the visit (rx_session, ended by half an hour without activity). Neither is created until you allow this category, and both are removed if you switch it off again.
- With them, the site reports to the RegEx analytics service the shop uses: each page you open and how you arrived at it, how long you stayed and how far you scrolled, what you searched for on the site, the products you opened, what you added to your basket, and that you started or completed checkout.
- If you place an order while this category is on, the order is recorded together with these two identifiers, and the report of the purchase carries the order's tracking number and how it was paid. That links the visit to the order, and so to the details you gave at checkout.
- Opening any page of the site with ?rx_optout=1 at the end of its address sets a flag (rx_optout) that stops this browser being counted at all, whatever the banner says; ?rx_optout=0 removes it.
2.4 Marketing — off until you allow it
- Which popup advert you were last shown (onlinepharmacy-local-ad-last-id), so the next one is a different one.
- Which popup adverts you chose not to see again (onlinepharmacy-local-ad-dismissed).
- That a popup has already been shown in this tab (onlinepharmacy-local-ad-shown-session, session storage), so it is not shown twice in one visit.
- Turning this off does not mean fewer adverts. It means the site remembers nothing about the ones you have seen, so an advert you dismissed can appear again. Switching it off removes what was kept.
3. Services run by others
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces, on every page, so your browser asks Google's servers for them.
- Google's sign-in script is loaded when the sign-in form is shown, where the shop has switched on signing in with Google.
- Cloudflare Turnstile is loaded when a form protected by its check is shown, where the shop has switched that on.
- Pictures the shop shows, on its slides, adverts, products and branches, are loaded from wherever the shop keeps them. That can be another company's servers, such as a photo library's.
- With statistics allowed, the reports described in 2.3 are sent from your browser straight to the RegEx analytics service.
- A WhatsApp link, where the shop shows one, opens WhatsApp.
- Each of these runs under its own provider's policy and may set cookies of its own. This website has no control over them beyond using the service.
4. Saying no, and changing your mind
The banner offers three answers. Accept all cookies switches on all four categories. Reject all keeps only the necessary ones — it is one button, the same size and in the same place as accepting, because a choice that is harder to decline is not a choice. Cookie settings opens the four categories so you can allow some and refuse others, then Save current settings records exactly that.
Your answer is kept in this browser with the date you gave it. Clearing this site's data in your browser erases the answer, and everything else listed here, and the banner asks again.
Every major browser also lets you block a site's storage entirely through its settings. Blocking it here will stop the basket and sign-in from working, because that storage is what makes them work.
